Schienberghütte – The Leisure and Vacation Home
The “Schienberghütte” is located on the south-western side of the Ibergeregg, slightly below the pass. Away from the connecting road between Schwyz and Sihlsee. Embedded in a moor landscape, it offers a variety of recreational activities for young and old.
The house has been owned by the Naturfreunde of Zug for more than 80 years.
In countless voluntary working hours, the house is constantly being adapted to meet the needs of the time and has been transformed into a cosy, comfortable and functional vacation lodge.
The main infrastructure of the house:
- 2 lounges
- 1 large kitchen
- 6 bedroom combinations
- 2 showers
- 3 restrooms
- ladies and mens washrooms
- small playroom for children is also available
- 2 large grills are available outside
From the former open dormitory rooms of up to 30 mattresses, rooms with 2 to 12 beds were created. The accommodations decreased from 65 to 35 persons.
In recent years, all houses in the Ibergeregg area had to be connected to the public sewage system. Accordingly, the sanitary units were rebuilt. At the same time, the fresh water is supplied externally. The fountain in front of the house is the original natural spring that still partially supplies water to the house.
The kitchen is equipped with 2 electric stoves and a large wood-burning stove. The wood-burning stove also serves as the heat source which distributes warm water to the radiators throughout the house. The wood supply needed for the winter months is taken from our own forest surrounding the house. This is accomplished during planned workdays by our volunteer members.
Enjoy the sunset and the beautiful view of Lake Lucerne, Pilatus and Rigi along with a fine sausage or a juicy steak cooked on our outside grills.
